LISTENING AND COMMUNICATION ENHANCEMENT:

Listening and Communication Enhancement (LACE) is a cost effective, home-based, interactive computer program designed to improve adult hearing impaired listening in the hearing aid fitting process, provide listening strategies, build confidence, and address cognitive changes.

How does Lace Work?

LACE is designed for use in the privacy of the patient’s home. Therapy is done 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 4 weeks. LACE provides a variety of interactive and adaptive tasks that are divided into three main categories (degraded speech, cognitive skills, and communication strategies). The patient listens to and identifies the signal; then sees the correct response on the screen. The difficult level of the task is based on the accuracy of the person’s response to the previous task. If it is correctly comprehended; the next sentence will be a little more difficult; if it was incorrect the next sentence will be easier.

Clinical studies have indicated significant improvements in patient’s performance with their hearing aids following the four week training. For more information contact Dr. Joy Pritchett 706-452-0578.
